1965 Shelby GT350
1965 Shelby GT350 Mustang

Lot: 1293

Sold new by Ray Hunt Ford, Daytona Beach, FL. All numbers match. Serial #69. Won First Place at the SCCA Regional Daytona Nationals in 1965. Signed by Shelby. In 1965 Ford had been rebuffed by the SCCA, the sanctioning body for amateur sports car racing in this country. The fiercely independent SCCA did not appreciate being leaned on by a large mega-buck corporation, so Ford turned to Carroll Shelby. Instead of trying to steamroll the SCCA, Shelby applied some "good-ole-boy" massaging. The SCCA said in order for Carroll's cars to be sanctioned, there needed to be 100 of them. That's where this car comes into the picture. This GT350 is Serial #69 of the first legendary 100 built. What makes this car so special is that it raced in the SCCA, driven by original owner William Floyd. This car took First Place at the Daytona Nationals and finished 8th overall. This all numbers match car made history doing what Carroll Shelby intended and took First Place doing it. Documented with copy of original invoice, documented racing and owner history in the Shelby Registry and signed by Shelby himself. Car history and racing history verified by Howard Pardee of the Shelby Registry. An original striped car fitted at the factory with the optional special alloy wheels. Only 41,000 original miles. All original pans. Runs and drives flawlessly. This is a unique opportunity to own a legend built and signed by a legend. A true example of American muscle car history.
