| Roush Mustangs at Nascar Media Tour |
Earlier this week as part of the Roush Fenway Racing portion of the annual Nascar Sprint Media Tour, the drivers put nearly 200 journalists from around the country into the passenger seat of the Roush 427R Mustang for the ride of their life. Not only did the journalists exit the car smiling, but the drivers found a new appreciation for the performance characteristics of Jack's best selling Mustang model.
The drivers that Jack Roush hires to pilot his Nascar Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series cars are among the best in the business. They know how to drive, and they have outstanding car control. And they know a good car when they get behind the wheel. And to a man, each of them praised the 2010 427R Mustang after taking several laps around the road course at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway. "I was really impressed at how nimble the Roush Mustang was, especially for a street car. I like how it sounds. It is a really cool car," said Colin Braun, driver of the No. 6 Con-Way Freight Ford Mustang in the Nationwide Series.
His Nascar Nationwide Series teammate Ricky Stenhouse Jr., driver of the No. 16 Citi Financial Ford Mustang, agreed about the Roush 427R exhaust note. "Every Mustang sounds good to me. That's something I noticed while growing up. Of course, nobody had a Mustang like this one when I was growing up," he joked, then added, "The brakes are amazing. It really feels and handles like a racecar."
David Ragan, driver of the No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion in the Nascar Sprint Cup Series, was impressed by the suspension on the Roush 427R Mustang. "I thought it handled great. The car has really good power too," he said of the 435 horsepower generated by the addition of a Roushcharger. "This is the first time I've had a Roush Mustang on a road course track and you can really get into the turns hard. It was a lot of fun to drive," Ragan said.
Also on hand were Nascar Sprint Cup drivers Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth. Edwards has often praised the cars as he did on the documentary of the development on the 2010 Roush Mustang. "This (Roush Mustang) is great. The engine sounds good and it will blow the tires right off. That's a lot of fun right there, and this is a very, very fun street car," said Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion.
"I couldn't help but be impressed when I first walked up and looked at the car," Kenseth said about the Roush 427R Mustang. "It's a great looking car and it drives even better," said the 2003 Nascar Sprint Cup champion and winner of the 2009 Daytona 500.
