Did Ford Out The 2011-2012 Boss 302 Mustang?

2011 2012 Boss Mustang Rendering

Did Ford just out the 2012 Boss 302 Mustang? Although we haven't heard anything directly from Ford rumor is that at this year's Ford Dealer Show, President of Ford Motor Company's American Division, Mark Fields, dropped a huge hint about a possible street legal version of the Boss 302R race car. During his presentation Fields was speaking of the last few special edition Mustangs that Ford created and remarked that although he couldn't say what to look for next that he'd give a little hint. Right then a '70 Boss 302 Mustang drove behind him on stage! If that doesn't prove that Ford is planning a Boss 302 Mustang for 2011 or 2012 nothing does.

Late last year Ford introduced the 2011 Mustang Boss 302R race car. The 302R is an off road only, race ready vehicle available with a 5.0L 4-valve engine and a six speed manual transmission. Other features include a roll cage, race seats, safety harness, data acquisition system, race dampers/springs, and a Brembo brake and tire package. Starting price was $79,000. Currently there is no word on what to expect for the street legal version's features and pricing though we'd expect it to be powered by a modified version of the 5.0L engine in the Mustang GT with upgraded suspension and high performance wheel/tire package.
