Back during the era of the Fox Body 5.0L Mustang there were many accounts of guys buying a new Mustang, bolting on a few simple mods, and going straight to the track to get their cars in the 13s. Those where the days, though the memories become a little tarnished when you start comparing them to what the new 5.0L Mustang is capable of. Less than two weeks after reporting that the guys over at Evolution Performance were able to get their 2011 Mustang GT to run in the 11s we've got two accounts of performance shops getting their new 5.0L Mustangs into the 10s!
The first to achieve a 10 second 1/4 mile run in the new 5.0L Mustang was Justin's Performance Center (JPC) out of Millervilles, MD. Using a 100hp shot of nitrous, 4.56 rear end gears, aftermarket upper and lower control arms, and a set of slicks they were able to produce an elapsed time of 10.96 seconds @ 125.75 mph.
Not long after JPC got their car in the 10s the same guys who were the first to get a 2011 Mustang GT into the 11s, Evolution Performance, was able to run a 10.88 @ 126.66 with a 100hp shot of nitrous, 3.73 gears, prototype cold air intake, Eaton TruTrac differential, and a set of drag radials. The fact is that the 2011 Mustang GT is going to be a force to reckon with at the drag strip!
