| Dealers To Get 2012 Boss 302 Mustangs Based On Sales And Lottery |
Its no secret that when Ford releases a hot new limited edition Mustang every dealer wants to get their hands on one. After all it not only means that the dealership will get a lot of tire kicking potential buyers in the showroom, but also the possibility of a higher than MSRP sale price when the car finally sells. With the reveal of the 2012 Boss 302 Mustangs it was only a matter of time before Ford had to devise a way to choose which dealers would be on that list.
According to a recently leaked document, meant for dealership eyes only, Ford is giving its dealers two ways to get a Boss 302 into their showroom. First off the initial 75 percent of Boss 302 Mustangs will be allotted to the dealerships who make up the top 75 percent of Mustang retail sales over the past 12 months. Those dealers are guaranteed at least one Boss 302 with the opportunity to get more depending on sales numbers. The second way a dealer can get on the allocation list is by lottery. Each of these dealers will be given one initial entry into the lottery, and another entry for each Mustang they've sold in the past 12 months. Although this gives lower volume dealers a chance at getting a Boss, none are guaranteed one, nor can any dealer get more than one Boss through the lottery. The Laguna Seca package will be allocated to dealers by a second lottery which is made up of dealers who already earned a Boss 302.
