2010 Hurst Mustang Pace Car To Be Auctioned At Barrett Jackson

2010 Hurst Mustang Pace Car

Update 1/24/2011: This car sold on the final day of the Barrett Jackson Scottsdale auction for $70,000.

After successfully touring the country last year as the official pace car for the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge Series the 2010 Hurst Mustang Pace Car will be going up for sale this month at the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. Proceeds of the auction will go to benefit the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer, formed to support research towards the diagnosis, treatment, and development of a cure for pediatric cancer.

After fulfilling its duty as a pace car the Hurst Mustang traveled the entire route of the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour, made an appearance at the 2010 SEMA show, and even made special visits to children's hospitals. For maximum performance and attitude, this stunning Mustang comes equipped with 20" Hurst polished forged aluminum wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDW tires. The engine pumps out 550 horsepower, or nearly 200hp more than the FR500S race Mustangs, and 542 lb/ft of torque courtesy of the Ford Racing polished supercharger, Ford Racing FR500S stainless steel exhaust and a K&N filter. With its race bred Ford Racing suspension, it is sure to keep people straining just to see it zoom by. To stop all that power, the car comes equipped with an upgraded braking system featuring 14" rotors squeezed by 4 piston calipers. Other signature Hurst details include a traditional Hurst black on gold paint scheme, a Hurst leather interior with contrast top-stitching and embroidered logos, Hurst floor mats and a Hurst AIR-SPEED rear deck spoiler.

The Hurst Mustang pace car (lot #1551) will cross the chopping block at Barrett Jackson on Sunday, January 23rd. While this Mustang is guaranteed to become an instant collectible, this is actually the second 2010 Mustang pace car Hurst has built. The original sold at Barrett Jackson last January for an amazing $120,000 with the proceeds benefiting the Victory Junction Gang Camp charity.
