Ford Mustang Sales Down 8 Percent In October 2011

2012 Mustang GT CS Convertible

Although Ford Motor Company has been experiencing increased monthly sales for the better part of this year the Ford Mustang model hasn't been doing quite as well. We're not sure what the cause is, maybe the styling has gone stale, maybe buyers are waiting for the next generation model or maybe, just maybe, enthusiasts are just opting for the Camaro. Whatever the cause is it continues in October 2011 with the Mustang losing 8 percent in monthly sales over the previous year. In October 2010 Ford sold exactly 5,317 Mustangs, 419 more than this year and furthering the Mustang's year-to-date sales decrease to -4.1 percent.

While Mustang sales are going downhill the Camaro is charging well ahead. General Motors sold 6,119 Camaros in October, an amazing 22 percent increase over the same month of the previous year. That adds up to 76,368 Camaros sold so far this year, an 6.8 percent increase over 2010, 14,852 more than the Mustang and more than twice the number of Dodge Challengers sold in the same period. Speaking of the Challenger, it is also down roughly 3 percent for October 2011 with just 3,097 units driving out of showrooms.
