|Autobytel Chooses Boss 302 Mustang As 2012 Sports Car Of The Year
Its no secret that the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 was chosen for a number of notable awards last year. Recently Car and Driver magazine named the Boss as one of its "10 Best" while the Mustang's 444 horsepower 5.0L V8 was listed as one of the top engines of the year by Wards Auto. So what better way is there to kick off the new year than with yet another prestigious award? Autobytel just announced that the Boss 302 beat out some very hot competition to become the 2012 Sports Car of the Year!
I'm sure just a few years back Porsche would have never dreamed that their perennial love, the 911, would be challenged by the Ford Mustang but surprise, surprise, the Mustang has not only beaten the 911 but the latest Nissan GTR as well. As Autobytel's Susan Mead puts it "This horse loves to run and we loved to drive it. Ford is taking its Mustang line-up back to the future with a no-apologies sport-performance heritage model. It's not an Apprentice. It's not a Manager. It's the Boss. Specifically, it's the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 that comes with a beastly 444-hp, 302 cubic inches, and a 5.0-liter street-legal dose of V8 adrenaline. Hold onto your hair, Donald Trump, it'll blow your head back to the Recaro racing seats! We love it because, at an MSRP of just about $40,000 the sports car dream just became attainable."
The Boss wasn't the only Ford to be honored by Autobytel this year. The Ford F-150 powered by the new turbocharged and direct injected Ecoboost V6 was named the Pick Up Truck of the Year as well. The F-150 beat out the Toyota Tundra and GMC Sierra HD to grab this award.
