2002 Mustangs were released without the normal Cobra model in the lineup, which occured just 2 years before that in 2000. Although that temporary deletion of the Cobra in 2000 was because of power problems, this time around it was due to a more positive problem. John Coletti, former director of SVT, was reportedly disappointed over the car's lack of power after test driving it. He urged his Special Vehicles Team to redo the car. Therefore no 2002 Cobra was released and instead, we were given the Supercharged 390 horsepower version the next year. As for the rest of the line, not much changed.
