| 2003 Ford Mustang |
2003 brought along a new Cobra and an addition to the Mustang model lineup. The Mach 1 offered a naturally aspirated 4.6L similar to the engine in the '99 Cobra. In some cases, it could almost be considered the replacement model for the previous Cobra. Although GM ended production of both the Camaro and the Firebird, Ford thought it would beef up the Cobra to extreme proportions just to kick up some extra dust at the competing pony cars. Ford's new Cobra was given a 4.6 liter supercharged DOHC V-8 with an extreme 390 horsepower. What took so long...I don't know, but whatever it was certainly made this debut quite an amazing event. You can thank John Coletti, former SVT director, for turning down the 2002 model of the COBRA which he said did not satisfy him.
