ummm...I know that MotorTrend is always light on the cars they get, but geez. Those are almost the same times MotorTrend gives the 99-04 Mustangs. Its usually timed around 13.9 or 14.0 for the older GTs in all of those types of magazines. Its quite sad that they could only get a 13.8 out of its 300 horsepower. The weight really made the car suffer it appears. We'll see...

I didn't read the article, so i got those numbers from somebody else but i just read (i think on road and tracks forum) that it was actually 13.6, not 13.8.
There is also something else i didn't mention in the first post. This car was an automatic. I think with that said, it's more than possible that this will be a ultra low 13 second car with a really good driver like Evan Smith. Definately a 12 second car with gears and slicks.

OH THANK GOD!!! If the car actually ran 13.8, it would kind of be disappointing considering they put a whole 40 extra horsepower into the motor. Alright, cool.

The new issue of Hot Rod has an article on an 05 modified by Paul's high performance and it runs like 12.30's. Looks like they are gonna have a lot of parts out for these before long. I'd still like to get a body-in-white and put my 473/PG into it.

Relax folks, I dont care what Motor Trend says. They are a great bunch of ppl and very knowledgeable about new cars, and showing pics, but sorry- when it comes to testing them out, they stink. I dont care if its a stick or an auto, if the driver isnt that great, or not paying attention, not a perfect launch etc, then the times arent gonna be that great either. There are different variables to consider as well.

My point, for example:

Road and Track April 2005 Issue: (Various S197 models, 5 or 6 in total tested)

GT-R concept, Saleen S281, Steeda Q, V6 convertible, V8 GT STOCK.

S197 GT STOCK
0-60 - 4.9 seconds
1/4 mi - 13.5 @ 102.4

Saleen S281
0-60 - 5.2 seconds
1/4 mi - 13.7 @ 103.8

GT-R Concept
0-60 - 5.0 seconds
1/4 mi - 13.6 @ 104.2

Forget the 2nd two if you find it hard to believe. But realize that the V8 GT STOCK IS in fact CAPABLE of 0-60 4.9 seconds, and 1/4 of 13.5 seconds.

Look it up. Take care.

Well its been nearly a year since Pontrage made his post. And he was pretty much right! With a confident/capable driver a 05-07GT will run 13.50s.Some have even turned a few 13.40s stock & even one incredible 13.3x that I know of!Granted these 13.3x-13.50s were done on a track that was prepped and weather was optimal but the cars were stock right down to the tires!I have seen guys strip between 250-300lbs out of their S197s too(Im one of them)that would net 2-3 tenths off their 1/4 times while still being stock! But there is alot of non driving fools out there that will never do better than a high 13 pass....
