wider street tires for 06 Mustang

I have an 06 Mustang GT with 17in x 8in wide Bullitt wheels. The car needs bigger street tires on the back - 10 or 11 inches wide. Presently it has the factory P235/55/ zr17 tires which have been overcome by the power adders recently installed. The tires break loose even under light to moderate accelleration from a dead stop.

For racing, I have a pair of P245/45/R17 Nitto drag radials on a spare set of factory 17 x 8in. wheels. The Mustang wheels also come from Ford in an 18in. version. I think they are also 8in wide.

So here is my question - What tire (10 to 11 in.) and wheel sizes will fit and stay close to the diameter of the stock tires? A little bigger is ok. I get lost trying to figure out all these **** tire size numbers. Also, I realize that it may be necessary to go to a different style of wheel to get the size of tire I'm looking for. The car just needs a bigger footprint on the back to keep it streetable/stable.

Note: the performance tune disables the traction control system (TCS)

CAR Specks:
2006 Mustang GT, 4.6L 3 valve engine w/13,000 miles
5 speed automatic
C & L racer intake
Diablo Predator tune
tuned shortie headers
3:73 gears
3 point traction setup
Flowmaster axelbacks
TCI stall converter (2500 to 3000 revs)
