Can anybody tell me if Ford is even thinking about building the Mach 1? This illistration is right on point. If they do count me in, since I probably will not be able to afford the Shelby.

Nobody truely knows for sure. I don't have a quote on hand, but i do remember Ford saying something about not having any major changes to the 2005+ Mustangs for a while, but instead they would have various special models. (such as the bullitt and mach 1)

Considering the problems Ford had with Warner Bros. when the Bullitt was produced, it is unlikely they will do another one, on the other hand Ford sold all of them but, still unlikely.
I think another Mach 1 is likely and maybe another Boss if Ford can come to terms with Shinoda.

What kind of problems did they have with Warner Bros? Was it with trying to make a deal for the permission to use the name?

They started out with Warners wanting $1000 per car and settled for a lesser amount.
I`m not sure how much but, I doubt Ford made much money on the Bullitts.
In addition, every after market piece with the Bullitt logo has to pay a license fee or stop making it.
MGW was making shift knobs with the Bullit logo (I got one) and the car number and Warners shut it down.
Apparently the McQueen family were great (they got 2 or 3 cars) but Warners just sucked it dry.
I`m simplifying here for lack of space but check out www.IMBOC.com and do a search for a lot more info if you`re interested.

$1000 a car...thats insane.
My brother and I were talking about the new Shelby Cobra GT500, and we sometimes wonder how much extra each buyer is going to pay for the "Shelby" name.
Ford should have spelled the name differently so they didn't have to pay WB...LOL "Bullet"

The Mach 1 we have posted is just a rendering,. Ford hasn't released any statements about a Mach 1 or Boss Mustang although they have stated in the past that there would be special versions from time to time. With that said there are a ton of rumors about a Boss being in the works and i'd be willing to be that we will see one soon.
The NY Auto Show is just a month away maybe Ford will be showing us something then?

I just bought the first 06 Mustang GT Mach 1 in Texas. It is an after market conversion done by Heritage Conversions, Dallas, Texas This is not a factory Mach, but it is approved by Ford. I dont think Ford is going to do the Mach any time soon, they kind of like the fact that the customer has the option of their own conversion. They also do a Boss package. I love my new Mach 1, red with black stripes, origanal looking Mach stripe down the sides and flat black rear deck lid and spoilr. It has the functional shaker hood scoop, cold air ram induction, and a real throaty pair of stainlees steel cat back flowmasters. Red and leather interior with black trim. It is AWESOME! How could I get pictures on this site for everyone to see?
