Mods for power and mileage

Postby Big Hog » Mon Oct 23, 2006 4:29 pm

I am looking for a way to add more power and gas mileage to my 2006 GT vert. I thought I would add a BBK throttle body with a BBK CAI and Magnaflow axle backs. I don't want to void my warranty so I am against a tune kit. Does anyone have a better idea.

If you find a way to get more power and better fuel economy, let the rest of us in on it. If you want your car to actually be faster, it's prolly gonna use more gas. If you want better fuel economy, adjust your driving habits and remove any unnecessary weight, air up your tires to 38-40psi.

The CAI, TB, and cat back are a good idea, but without the tune you won't get full potential. You can always pull the tune back out when going for warranty work.

My Ford dealer never gave me any guff on all that you mentioned plus headers and rear end gears. I went with a flash/programmer, and hybrid is right any time you go for dealer work youl'll have to go back to stock on the tune.
Hybrid, always the jokerster, please do let us all know if you can squeeze out any mpg's by adding power(you kill me). Although hybrid gave me a site to go to called "Don't Fear the Gear." In the article it said there might be a increase in mpg due to having to shift less but really got to work at it to get 50mpg/ quater tank. I've got K&N FIPK, BBK long tube headers, high flow cats American Thunder cat back, BBK 75mm TB and BBK upper plenum.

Any time you go to a shorter gear ratio, your MPG will drop due to being at higher RPM's. Most CAI's, throttle bodies, and dual exhaust I've seen will bring up your MPG a little unless you get on it all the time to hear it like I do

a full exhuast and a K&N CAI will help alot. I am not up to date on the 05 and up, but if there are any hand held tuners available, then that would help out alot. good luck

Underdrive pulleys will give you 5hp and save on gas.

Aluminum Drive shaft and Flywheel, lighter is better.

light weight wheels, Steeda and Weld.

Oh and don't forget the TURBONATER and the MAGNETIC FUEL IONIZER
