New Flowmaster Super 44s!

Postby Mike23386 » Thu Mar 29, 2007 8:39 pm

Has anyone tried out the new Flowmaster Super 44 series yet? I think they just came out earlier this month but I just found out about them now. Supposedly they are the loudest, most aggressive sounding chambered mufflers Flowmaster has ever made! I found a sound clip on streetfire.net and they sound pretty good. I am thinking about giving myself a project this weekend and picking up a set to try. Maybe it will be the right sound that I have always been looking for!

Those sound pretty bad ass. My only personal experience with Flowmaster was with an American Thunder II kit that I installed on one of my previous cars. I wasn't crazy about how the kit was made (the Mac kit was ten times easier to install), but they sounded awesome and lasted forever. I've had other mufflers that started to rust and rot within months, but the Flowmasters were made of such thick material that they got little more than surface rust on them after five years, and 150K miles.

Let us know how you like them.

Has anyone tried Flowmaster's 1 chamber race mufflers? They are supposed to be loud and nice sounding. I am trying to find a nice muffler that has the sound I want but I don't have the money to buy a million different mufflers to try out. Any sound clips would be appreciated!

This car sounds sick! Its a 2003 Mustang GT with an off-road ProChamber h-pipe (xpipe?), and 1 Chamber Flowmasters.

Just bought a set of 1 chambers online so I should have them soon! I am wondering how big of a difference they will make though :? . Right now I have 2 original 40 series (2 1/2") welded into the very restrictive stock 2 1/4" catback. They aren't loud at all, even with Hooker headers and an O/R x-pipe :x ! I have heard many of my buddies Mustangs and they all have 2 1/2" catbacks which are about twice as loud as mine. Does an extra 1/4" really make that big of a difference? Their cars are mostly stock. Its not like they are high compression race cars or anything. For now I only have the money to put these 2 1/2" 1 chambers in with the 2 1/4" catback like my 2 chambers are now and I don't think they will be much louder. I guess I will just have to try it to find out. If they aren't loud, I will buy 2 1/2" flow tubes and matching tailpipes to see if that extra 1/4" will make a difference. I will make sure I post some sound clips too of the new mufflers.

Not sure how much difference there is between the 2 1/4 and 2 1/2, but I'm sure it does make a difference.

How about throwing a set of dumps on the mufflers instead. It might not be street legal in your area, but it'll definitely be louder.

I cut the tailpipes off last night and what a difference it made! The exhaust is coming right out of the Flowmasters now. There is less "Flowmaster Sound" but it is much louder drone wise.

I would love to have my car sound like this though! He has the same exact setup as me but he has 2 1/2" catback instead of 2 1/4". I have a similar sound to this but about half as loud :x .

Well, I got the 1 chambers and they are loud! They sound almost exactly like 40 series but they are much louder. The only problem I have is that the 1 chambers are center in, center out and are much shorter than the 40 series I had on there. Right now they are dumped until I can get pipes bent to connect the tailpipes. I think I am finally going to lose the stock flowtubes and tailpipes and buy a full 2 1/2" pypes violator catback next week. Hopefully I can rig up a system that will allow me to switch between the open pypes mufflers and the 1 chambers in just a few minutes.

How do the 1 chambers sound compared to two chamber flowmasters? Such as is the tone the same, but louder, or do they sound more rough?

Well, I don't know how much the sound will change with tailpipes but dumped they are much louder than 40 series. The 40s produced that famous mustang drone at around 1800rpms but these 1 chambers don't seem to do that. There is a drone at about 1000rpms and then it goes away completely. I personally love the mustang drone and am disapointed that these new mufflers don't make it. They do not sound rough at all like those clips you posted of the 4.6 mustang. They sound smooth just like 40s but much louder. I tried taking a video to get a good sound clip on my digital camera but I didn't know my camera doesn't have sound. I will see if I can find a cheap sound recorder somewhere so I can post some clips.
