"Super Stallion"

Why is this site named 5.0 Super Stallions? (OK, this was written a few weeks ago before we got the new domain name...LOL)  Basically its named that for a few reasons.  First of all I have always liked the Super Stallion (Pro 5.0) racing class.   The second reason is because I think that the Super Stallion is one of the most unique vehicles that Ford has ever built.  Not only does it look pretty good, but its pretty damn powerful too.
I was looking through some old magazines the other day and I read an article about the Super Stallion.  It made me start thinking about how there aren't really that many places on the internet that have any information about that car.  So guess what?!?   I'm posting some info about it here.

SVE Super Stallion

The Super Stallion was built by Ford's SVE division.
It was timed by MotorTrend magazine in the quarter mile.
Its best time was a 12.7, supposedly it spun the tires until it was in 3rd gear.
They couldn't get very good traction, so who knows what kind of times this
car is capable of with a good set of slicks.  After the car was tested by them
there were rumors spreading around about how the car's super charger wasn't
even hooked up during testing.
Just like what the '00 Cobra R has, the Super Stallion had an IRS
(independent rear suspension).  It seems as though the Super Stallion was
a testing bed for such components. The Super Stallion's IRS is alot more
sophisticated than the '00 Cobra R's suspension. It had a IRS not than much
different from what an Indycar has.
The Super Stallion ran on both pure gasoline and E85 (15 percent gas,
85 percent ethanol).  The coolest thing about the fuel setup on this car
was that it could figure out what kind of gas you are pumping in it.
The computer would switch its setting according to what fuel you use.
Yet another cool concept that the Super Stallion had is what I call
"The Mad Max Supercharger". Basically it was a supercharger that
had a hydraulic clutch on the pulley which would let you turn it on and
off as you like.  On for power, off for fuel economy.  Wouldn't it be cool
if Vortech, Paxton, or Procharger would add this feature to their super
chargers? Hint, Hint, Hint!
