Frequently Asked Questions
-Tranny/Drivetrain-
| Q. I've heard that a Short Throw shifter doesn't really make you any faster, so why buy one? |
| A. Although
some people complain about how short throw shifters vibrate too much because of the lack
of rubber dampening inside it, a short throw shifter can help you stay consistent at the
dragstrip and on the road. (and road course) One of the biggest advantages you will
have with a short throw shifter is that you won't (or shouldn't) miss third gear, and the
shifts will be shorter, making it easier to stay consistent. Another go thing about short throw shifters is that no matter how hard you shift you won't (like I said before, or shouldn't) bend your shift forks inside your tranny. |
| Q. My AOD tranny seems to be slipping, are there any adjustments? |
| A. No there really aren't any adjustments that you can make on the AOD/AODE. You can try adjusting the TV cable (its on the throttle body) but if your tranny is slipping its probably time for a rebuild. |
| Q. What size speedometer gear do I need for my new 3.55 rear end gears so my speedo works right? |
| A. Check out the speedo gear chart. --->Here |
| Q. I feel a vibration when I'm driving, what could it be? |
| A. It could be many different things, but the most common causes are that your wheels are out of balance, your u-joints are bad, or your driveshaft is out of balance. Getting the wheels balanced and checking the u-joints for play is a good place to start looking for the problem. |
