Forty Five years after he introduced the original Ford Mustang at the 1964 New York Worlds Fair auto industry visionary Lee Iacocca today unveiled his own version of the famous pony car. Meet the Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang. This breathtaking vehicle utilizes the latest in Ford Mustang performance technology with a style that screams MUSTANG! Only 45 "2009 1/2" Iacocca Silver Edition Mustangs will ever be built, all of which will be painted a special Iacocca chosen silver.
Nearly two years in the making, the Iacocca Silver Edition Mustang is a collaborative effort by Iacocca designer Michael Leone, and Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters, a world class design company in Fountain Valley, California. The new business venture is called "I Legacy" and will be in cooperation with Galpin Ford, the only Ford dealership authorized to offer the Iacocca Mustang.
In a word, the new Iacocca Silver Edition Mustang is stunning. The lines flow organically from front to rear. The hand crafted piece of rolling art, with its innovative fastback design is truly exceptional in every way. With its sunken headlights, slanted grill, and low stance, the car has a true street attitude. "Once in a while a car comes along that changes everything, and that was the original Mustang" said Iacocca.
The car began life as a 2009 Mustang, which is then uniquely modified. While the exterior fastback design of the Iacocca Mustang is compelling, the mechanical underpinnings are all American muscle. Two engine options will be offered for the Silver Edition Mustang. The base model includes a normally aspirated 4.6L Ford V8 rated at 320 horsepower. There is also an optional supercharged version that delivers 400 ground pounding ponies. Both power plants are covered by a Ford Motor Company warranty and shift through a 5 speed manual transmission.
To keep pace with the modified engines, the Silver Edition's suspension system has also been upgraded. A Ford Racing Handling Package adds firmer springs and revalved shocks/struts. A Ford Racing 14" brake kit is also available. Just like the powertrain, the suspension components are covered under a factory Ford warranty as well.
Inside the Iacocca Mustang is a resplendent interior with unique touches that highlight the car's special heritage including special Iacocca Diamond Design leather seats with embroidered stitching. The interior also features an Iacocca signature dash plaque with serial number, a leather wrapped steering wheel with Iacocca emblem, and aluminum Iacocca badged door sill plates.
