|Bill Ford Jr. Confirms Turbo Mustang Rumors
According to a recently published article on Jalopnik.com, Ford Motor Company Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr. was speaking to a group of students at Princeton University recently and was questioned about the possibility of a turbo Mustang being in the pipeline. While Ford didn't go into detail about the car, he did confirm that they are indeed developing an Ecoboost Mustang. Furthermore, when Jalopnik followed up with Ford PR representatives about this story they didn't deny what Bill said.
There is no word when the Ecoboost turbo Mustang will be revealed to the public though its pretty safe to say that it will be powered by a 3.5L twin turbo V6 powerplant much like the 365hp beast that powers the new Ford F150 pickup truck. This would be the first time since 1984 that Ford produced a turbocharged Mustang. Back then it was the Mustang SVO which was powered by a single turbo 2.3L 4 cylinder engine pumping out 175hp. Whether Ford will use the SVO moniker on the new car is yet to be seen but if you look at our photoshopped emblem above I think you'll agree its a perfect fit.
