|Galpin Auto Sports Building Boss 429 Inspired Mustang For Charity
Galpin Auto Sports which is known for creating some extremely wicked rides such as the Red Mist Mustang for the movie Kick-Ass and the X-1 project for the United States Air Force has revealed a few details about their latest endeavor, a modern Mustang inspired by the 1969 Boss 429. Although it'll be some time before this car is officially unveiled to the public here is what we know so far. The car started life as a 2012 Mustang GT which Galpin then tore down to add a hand crafted steel widebody kit. Once completed the exterior will feature a stunning Candy Apple Red paint job by PPG. A unique Boss 429 inspired hood scoop and massive 21" front and 22" rear Forgiato three piece wheels round out the exterior treatment.
On the performance side of the things Galpin added a Ford Racing supercharger unit, Comp Cams camshafts, a Bassani exhaust system and many other upgrades resulting in an amazing 700 horsepower from it's 5.0L powerplant. Other modifications include a Wilwood high performance front and rear brake kit, Eibach lower springs and a unique electronically controlled exhaust cut out system.
In collaboration with SPX, Galpin will be selling this one of a kind Mustang at the Barrett Jackson auction on January 20th, 2012. All proceeds from the sale will go to benefit the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. This isn't the first time SPX has been involved with a Mustang charity auction. At the 2010 Barrett Jackson Scottsdale Auction SPX donated a 2008 Mustang FR500S race car which sold for $275,000 with all proceeds benefiting the same charity.
