Alternative Auto's "Performance tune" gets 20rwhp

I found this pretty interesting so i thought i'd post it. Alternative Auto Performance has done what they call their "Performance Tune" on an '05 GT which is basically a retune using a product they sell called the Xcalibrator Flash Tuner. They found 20rwhp by the way....
What i found interesting is that the new Mustang has a trick up it's sleeve just like the Fox body stangs used to.

As most readers will know the Fox stangs used to have an air silencer in the intact tract (well actually just behind the airbox) that when removed would add about 5hp. Well it turns out that the '05 GT's have something similar. They have a "Pre Catalytic Converter" that is in the engine intake tract that helps reduce emissions by stopping unburned fuel emissions from escaping to the atmosphere when the engine is turned off. (by going out through the intact tract). Well it turns out that this baby stops airflow enough that you gain 4-5rwhp by removing it!!!

Here is the original article by Alternative Auto -2005 Mustang Performance Tune-

And the dyno sheet for the whole performance tune they did....

06 GT

Thanks for the tip about the pre-catalytic insert in the air induction system. Removed mine and will install a CAI system shortly

I have a 06 GT and I saw no pre-catalytic piece in my intake tube. ???
I disconnected the tube from the airbox and looked inside and saw nothing.
Is it at the other end, by the throttle-body?

It should be on the airbox side. Maybe Ford removed it in '06? I doubt it but who knows.

Well, crap, someone must have removed it or it was never installed on my car, which I bought new from a stealership... That's weird!
