HIGH IDLE

my car didnt idle at all when in got it 4 days ago, cleaned the IAC and in the process my friend lost the gasket so he made a new one out of cork. well my car idles now, but it does so at 1500 - 2000 rpms. any suggestions?

It could be possible that the previous owner screwed with the base idle settings. So you might want to try doing the Base Idle Reset

Otherwise it's likely the gasket you made is leaking.

i was thinking maybe that cork crap might be able to "breathe" if you will. any suggestions on what type material to use to make a new one?

The auto parts store should have sheets of thin gray gasket material. It's alot thinner than that thick cork stuff.

well i broke down and just replaced the IAC and VIOLA! perfect idle. 8)
