Air bag light

I have a 90 lx 5.0 and the air bag light is flashing. It hasn't been crashed or anything anyone have any ideas why it's on?

That could be a bad sensor (there are three of them) or maybe something in the wiring. Either way it's not something you can fix yourself. You'll need to find a shop that can scan for airbag codes.

That would make me more than a little it nervous.......is there a chance the airbag could deploy while driving down the road? I haven't heard any first hand stories about that happening to someone.

I'm not completely sure. I do know that it takes two sensors going off to deploy the airbag, so if one is already set off then I guess it would only take one more for it to go off. Then again I'm not sure if there are fail safes built into the system to stop it from happening like that.
