89 GT surging at idle

Hi

I have 89 mustang GT with stock Eng, when i start the car the idles will be great for about the 45 minutes of driving, then all of a sudden it starts surging at idle like it is going to stall out and will stall unless you heel toe it to give it gas. My Mach said since you have not drive the car for about 6 months the Eng get lot of carbon and it will go away by it self if you keep driving it.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you please help

Thanks.

I have an 87 GT and have had surging idle problems at startup but it would stop after about 5 min. I cleaned the maf, throttle body, bought a new idle air control and tps but that didn't help much. I just finished rebuilding my engine a couple of weeks ago and now the surging idle has stopped so your problem could be carbon buildup. You may want to look into an engine treatment additive to see if that helps otherwise follow the steps in the maintenance section on idle problems. Hope this helps.
