Well.. first of all, i feel good, first real subject for The Classics but anyways, i been having troubles with my mustang running (if I sound umm improper it might be cuz im 16 and new at working on my car ^^). im tryin to figure out how to get my choke/air fuel mixture to be set perfect except i dont know how.. tomorrow morning im planning on just getting it to run and then runnin to the other side and messin w/ my electric choke tryin to figure out where it sounds good but other then that i dont know much about it... so if someone that KNOWS what they are doing could give me some help i would appreciate it
I'm definately no carb expert, but just about every person i've ever known adjusts their choke by feel and sound, and adjust the air/fuel ratio by how the car feels when it's driven, and more importantly by frequently checking the spark plugs until they get it right.
alright thx, i didnt know if there was some standard position for it all.. my stepdad was tryin to help me but he was messin stuff up and it sounded like crap... and we had it all perfect i had the top end redone and then the it caught on fire -_- but im tryin to get it back again. ill prolly be workin on it today or tomorrow. thx
depending on the carb, there will be a factory spec as to where the fuel should be in the bowls, start w/ that. as far as the choke, make sure its opening up wll the way when the car is up to temp, then try and tweak the idle screw till its w/in idle specs. make a few runs, then check the plugs, and then have fun w/ the trial and error part
