Nascar is boring

ugh...Nascar is by far the most boring form of racing there is. Watching my dog lean to the side when he sits is more exciting. Watching people go in a circle just doesn't stay entertaining for very long. Also, what skill does it take to turn left. I don't mean that its easy, but it isn't anywhere near as complex as turning right and left a bunch of times through different curves. I don't know what anyone else thinks, but I find it quite..."meh".

Well i'm not sure where this came from, but i agree to a point. I used to be a Nascar fan years ago but it's on so **** much these days i'm getting sick of it all. It seems like everywhere you look there is another Nascar race on. It wouldnt even be that bad if there was just the one Nascar "class" (nextel cup) but there so many "knock offs" on TV these days that all you see are Nascar look alike oval racers.

Besides that i think it's about time that Nascar joins the rest of the racing community and throws a set of rain tires and wipers on those cars and races in the rain instead of calling the race off. Now i know alot of Nascar guys will say that these cars are going too fast to run in the rain but that's total bull because F1 cars have been racing wheel to wheel at 200mph in pouring rain for as long as i've been watching.
I'm not sure where the subject of rain came from either.....i guess i'm just thinking out loud.

Being a 35+ year NA$CAR fan i agree with the both of you. Ever since NA$CAR has been "Politically Correct" it has dove straight into the dumpster. The drivers have turned into corporate tools. It's a shame that there won't be anymore Bill Elliott types who scratched and clawed there way to the top. Now if your not a winner by the time your 24 your vapor. Personally I think the IRL has the best racing out there right now.

Except for about three weeks ago i haven't seen IRL in quite a long time. I was "soured" when IRL and CART split up because at the time i was a HUGE indycar fan and nothing killed me more than the fact that alot of the big name drivers went to CART, and IRL got to keep the Indy 500. So i basically stopped watching both of them....LOL
I saw an IRL race a few weeks ago, i'm not sure where i was being held at but it was a night race. Looked like some good wheel to wheel action, especially right at the end where the two driver (i forget who...LOL) were swapping first place back and forth until the end.

I used to feel the same way. However, after going to a few races and taking place in the Richard Petty Driving Experience, I have a new respect for NASCAR. It's 100x more interesting in person (partially due to all the drunk rednecks). I'm not a real big NASCAR fan, but I will most certainly watch it if it's on, just like nearly every other motorsport out there. I think the fact that all but two of the races (Watkins Glen and Sears Point) are only on oval tracks makes it interesing in it's own right.

I totally agree, it's much more interested and exciting in person. The drunk rednecks add alot to the fun too...LOL

What is the Richard Petty Driving Experience? Sounds like a driving school of some type?

RPDE is one of my greatest memories. I did it up in Atlanta Motor Speedway. You'll sit through about 20 minutes of instruction and then they take you out to old Winston Cup (oh, excuse me, Nextel Cup ) cars which are still packing somewhere around 600hp and show you everything about it. Then they take you around the track a few times in a van and show you where to brake and accelerate. Then when your name is called, you get strapped in the car by yourself and follow an instructor around the track. My top speed was 143. They also have a ride along where the instructor drives you himself and you get up around 160 or so. It was so much! It's got me itching to go to the Skip Barber Racing School now.

My bro-in-law recently went to do this down at Homestead Raceway (he lives not 2 miles away from it). It was raining so they couldn't race, but we spent a few hours just checking out the cars. They let everyone climb in and they started the engine and were letting us hear what they had to offer. Pretty awesome.
