2016 Mustang Updated with Retro Style
Ford dug up a few features from the Mustang’s past to update the car for the 2016 model year.
The 2016 Mustang GT now features hood vent-integrated turn signals as standard equipment, a feature made popular by the 1967 Mustang. Fresh style and new packages have also been added to the 2016 car, while performance remains the same. As a quick reminder, you can still get a naturally aspirated V6 that makes 300 hp, a turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder that makes 310 hp and a 5.0-liter V8 that puts down 435 hp.
Racing stripes in either black or silver are available once again straight from the factory, while a painted black roof option, a throwback to the Boss 302, can be had with the EcoBoost or V8-powered Mustang. Available exclusively on the EcoBoost Premium, Ford has revived the Pony Package, which now includes 19-inch polished aluminum wheels, tri-bar pony logo on the grille, side stripe and chrome window surround.
Those who pickup a Mustang GT will now be able to order the Black Accent Package, which brings along 19-inch black-painted alloy wheels, black decklid spoiler, dark taillamp trim, and blacked out 5.0 and pony badges.
Another throwback to the past, Ford is offering the California Special Package on the Mustang GT Premium. It includes 19-inch ebony-painted wheels, Ebony leather seats with suede inserts, aluminum dashboard finish, hood and side strips, a faux gas cap, strut tower braces with California Special badges, dark accented taillights, black mirrors and hood vents, a performance front splitter and finally a unique grille with the tri-bar pony logo.
Mustang buyers can also now order the Performance Package on the 2016 Mustang GT Convertible.
The 2016 Mustang arrives in dealerships in the third quarter of 2015.
