Dodge is on the right track and Ford has a winner, but Chevy doesn't have a clue.

oops...

I forgot to say, if they squared off the front like many here suggested, I would possibly consider it. As of now I think I will go with the challenger.

camaro and challenger

At least Dodge got it right. Ford was close...but the dang console is in the way of my knee when driving no matter what I do with the seat.

Doc Coffin If they would loose the silly spoiler and completely re-do that fugly front end it would look pretty good. The basic over all lines are good.

I think it could be a good start. I don't like the half circle tail lights though.....too much reminder of the Corvette. The car needs a bit more forward "hips", the hood deck line is too straight. Then there's the front end: well, its hard to say. All I know is that from certain angles, mainly straight from the front, it doesn't look bad. But any angle that shows that forward "pointy" shape just makes it look all wrong. My fix: just smooth down the point and make it a flush front end like Ford did with the mustang. The rest of the body profile is actually quite good. It looked horrible the first few pics I saw of it. But after seeing it from a couple of more angles, it could work. Just needs some tweaking....even though, let's face it, this IS a concept car....not the final product. Let's just assume for the moment that this is the general direction GM wants to go with it.
As for the powerplant: if GM plans to mate the LS2 into the Z28, it will be the GTO all over again. They simply can't hope to put such an expensive powerplant into this car and expect it to price competitively with the Mustang GT. And we all know that being steamrolled by mustang sales is what prompted GM to discontinue the Camaro in the first place....they simply weren't selling. I think a tuned LS1 putting out 340-375 hp could still be affectively priced under 30k if done right, and it would still give the Camaro fanboys they're bragging rights over the Mustang GT with such a hp advantage. Anything more should be saved for the pricier SS model.
Either way, my 05 mustang gt isn't going anywhere cuz of this new Camaro. And by the time GM gets its act together and puts it out on the streets......someone will NEED an SS to catch me. hehehe

I don't think it's half bad. Auto has a photo gallery of it also.

2006 Camaro Concept Unveiled

The long awaited debut of the Camaro concept is here. Personally I think it's quite ugly. Although i do like the headlight, front grill, and taillights, the rest of the car just doesn't work for me. They have yet again given the car the pointy vacuum cleaner front end of the last generation Camaro and as i read on Autoweek....the car looks like a bad Hotwheels creation. Upon first taking a look at the car i thought the silver color of the concept car was what was turning me off, but now i've seen a red version (attached below) of the same car and i'll admit i was wrong, the silver made it look good. Go take a look at the car and tell us what you think.

Before posting this i went to GM's website to see if i could get some info about this car but couldnt find anything other than images. According to Autoweek the camaro will have a "Corvette-derived 6.0-liter LS2 V8, tuned to crank out 400 hp and anchored to a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission. The engine also makes use of cylinder-deactivation technology to increase fuel efficiency. Chevy expects the Camaro to achieve 30 mpg on the freeway.

Below are a number of photos and sketches of the car straight from General Motors. You can also get more info at Autoweek's website.
