quick5pnt0 I'm not completely sure how your car is setup, but in 90% of cars you'll need to remove the gas tank to get the sending unit out. It involves siphoning out most of the gas from the tank, jacking up the car (supported on jack stands), removing a few bolts and fuel lines and lowering the gas tank down. The best method to do so on the ground is to put a jack under the tank and after it's unbolted you can safely lower it down. From there you need to remove the sending unit which many times is combined with the fuel pump and replace it.

Mikes01Stang The sending unit. Is that hard to replace?

quick5pnt0 It could be a few different things. The gauge itself could be broken, but the most common cause is the sending unit in the gas tank having gone bad. There are ways of testing both but I'm not sure how, maybe somebody else can fill you in on this. Otherwise you can always pick up a chilton or haynes manual for your car and it should give you more specifics on how to test both.
