embler mustangs didn't get a check engine light until 91. I would run codes also. check your fuel pressure regulator. pull the vacuum line off and ifit has any gas in it, then its bad.
btw, never use anything on a k&n besides their oil. it'll ruin it if you use anything else.

Mike23386 If your egr was stuck open your car would barely idle and would die out when you rev the gas. With a stock cam in my car it was idling like it had an x-303 cam when my egr went bad. Try o2 sensors or coolant temp sensor.

quick5pnt0 I've done similar things with K&N filters on ATVs but I'm not sure I'd recommend it for a car. You should be able to find K&N oil at your local parts store or if not any atv/motorcycle dealer will have it.

89notchstang also wondering if there are any alternatives to the k&n cleaner/oil..like....can i use some degreaser on my filter, and then spray some sort of common oil? thanks for the help.. your sites great!

89notchstang no check engine light on.. but im not sure if it even works.. where is my egr valve located??

quick5pnt0 I'm not certain, but if it were the EGR valve staying open the check engine light should be on.

89notchstang my buddy suggests the egr valve could be stuck open causeing this.. does that make sense?
