Here is a press release from Ford Motor Company on this win... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --Ford Racing/Multimatic Motorsports Mustang FR500C race cars speed to first and third place finishes in the Grand-Am Cup Mosport 200. --Gunnar Jeannette joins David Empringham in race victory; Empringham takes sole lead in driver’s points championship with Jeannette in second place. --With over half the race season over, Ford continues to lead the manufacturer’s championship. Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, Jun 18 – In a race at its home track of Mosport International Raceway, the Multimatic Motorsports team of Ford Racing Mustang FR500C race cars was expected to do well, and it did. The Mustang FR500C performed with “home field” advantage since Mosport is the track that was the home for early development and testing. In Saturday’s Grand-Am Cup Mosport 200, Gunnar Jeannette joined David Empringham for victory in the #05 FR500C, and Tom Milner co-drove with James Gue in the #55 capturing third. “The competition gets tougher, but the Mustang keeps coming out on top,” said Dan Davis, director, Ford Racing Technology. “The Grand Am GS class is one of the most competitive classes in racing. Much of the development on the FR500C was done at Mosport, so we expected to have a good day at there, and Multimatic did a great job delivering the victory.” After a second-place qualifying position, drivers Jeannette and Empringham actually started in the first-place position due to the pole-winner changing drivers prior to the race start. Jeannette and Empringham led from the start, lost the lead during pit stop rotations, and re-took it on lap 49 all the way to the checked flag. “The Mustang FR500C program is paying dividends not only on the racetrack, but also in the development of performance parts for the 2005 Mustang GT,” continued Davis . “It’s proving out the Mustang’s performance capabilities and providing development data to future production vehicle programs such as the Shelby Cobra GT500.” The Ford Racing Mustang FR500C was developed by Ford Racing Technology and is available through Ford Racing Performance Parts as a complete “ready-to-race” package for the Grand-Am Cup Series.
