I've done similar things with K&N filters on ATVs...

I've done similar things with K&N filters on ATVs but I'm not sure I'd recommend it for a car. You should be able to find K&N oil at your local parts store or if not any atv/motorcycle dealer will...

I'm not certain, but if it were the EGR valve staying open the check engine light should be on.

Thats strange. I'd suggest trying to check for computer codes. I would think that the check engine light would be on if something was that off, but who knows for sure.

BTW Try changing gas...
