3.8 swap

I am new to this forum having just recently purchased a 1997 Mustang Convert with a dead 3.8 V6. At this point I just want to get her back on the road and am looking for another 3.8 to replaced the burned out one. I have found a couple very low mile 3.8s from 95 and 96 Tbirds. Then I am told that 97 and 98 are the only ones that will work in this car without massive modifications. Can anyone give me the straight scoop??

I would assume that the engines are all alike, but you never know what little thing Ford changed that will give you **** when trying to swap it into your car.

Have you tried looking on ebay? Or Mustang Parts Specialties? MPS is pretty expensive but i'd be willing to bet they have one in stock. At least its an option if you have no other alternative.
